VibeShort Review 2026: the Fastest Download Curve in the Category, and the Thinnest Shelf Behind It
Verdict in four sentences
VibeShort scores 8.5 and is the breakout download story of 2026: 3.95 million installs in 30 days, up 346.58% year on year as of May 2026, on a catalogue that has not caught up with the marketing. That gap is the whole review. VibeShort publishes no US price, so the one thing you cannot do before installing is find out what finishing a series will cost you. Install it free, enjoy the free episodes, and spend a paid week somewhere the library is already deep.
- Thousands of series, roughly 200 new titles every month
- Free episodes daily, plus ad-unlocks — no card needed to start
- Unlimited plans from about $5.99 a week, the lowest entry price we found
- Runs on Android, iOS and in a desktop browser

What is VibeShort?
VibeShort is a vertical short-drama app in the same format as the rest of this category: 9:16 video, episodes of roughly 60 to 120 seconds, seasons of 40 to 100 or more episodes, with the first three to ten episodes free and a paywall after that. The single documented fact that separates it from its peers is growth. VibeShort recorded 3.95 million downloads in a 30-day window, up 346.58% year on year, as of May 2026.
What VibeShort has not done is publish the things a viewer needs. There is no official US pricing page, no committed coin table, no audited catalogue count and no statement about how its titles are produced. It is one of nine apps in our thirteen-app ranking that publish no official US price at all.
So this review is written the way the evidence allows. We can describe the growth figure precisely and say what it does and does not measure. We can describe the format, the free tier and the catalogue from browsing. We cannot tell you what a season costs, and we will not estimate it, because a made-up price is worse than an admitted gap.
If you have arrived here from a "fastest-growing app" list, the useful thing to know first is that this category is growing fast everywhere. Global short-drama downloads reached 2.3 billion in 2025, and Q1 2026 installs were up 238% year on year, per Sensor Tower reproduced by Adjust on June 23, 2026. VibeShort is riding a very strong tide.
Is VibeShort actually AI-generated?
VibeShort is a mixed catalogue, and that is our own classification rather than a disclosure from the company. Some titles read as conventionally shot and then localised for English. Others carry the standard signatures of generated video: faces that shift subtly between cuts, hands that deform, background text that resolves into pseudo-letters, and shots that never run longer than about ten to twelve seconds.
VibeShort publishes no figure, and no authoritative dataset shows what percentage of any app's catalogue in this category is AI-generated. That gap is not specific to VibeShort. It applies to every app we rank, including the one we earn commission from.
The distinction worth holding on to is AI-touched versus AI-made. A series filmed with human actors and dubbed into English by a voice model is AI-touched. A series whose shots were generated is AI-made. VibeShort contains both, labels neither, and gives you no way to filter. If that matters to you, no app in this category currently solves it.
The direction of travel is not in doubt, whatever any single app says. The China Netcasting Services Association reported that more than 95% of new Chinese microdramas in Q1 2026 were AI-generated, and DataEye counted roughly 221,900 AI titles published on Douyin in the first half of 2026, about 1,200 a day. US catalogues are stocked substantially from that pipeline, so a fast-growing app filling shelves quickly is very likely filling them with generated material.
There is a specific reason to expect that of VibeShort in particular. An app adding installs at this rate needs episodes to feed them, and AI production is the only route that supplies volume at speed. FlexTV's vice-president Tang Tang told MIT Technology Review on May 15, 2026 that moving North American production to AI cut costs 80 to 90% and compressed schedules from three or four months to under one, with teams of about ten people. That is a vendor describing its own results, but it is the economics every fast-scaling app is looking at.
The download story, read properly
VibeShort's 3.95 million downloads in 30 days, up 346.58% year on year as of May 2026, is a real figure and a weak one for deciding whether to install the app. It measures installs. It does not measure viewing, paying, retention or catalogue depth, and in a category where paid user acquisition is now often the largest single cost line in production, an install count is partly a measure of how much money an app is spending to be installed.
We are not accusing VibeShort of anything. Every app in this category buys installs, because that is how the category works. The point is narrower: a download headline is a spending signal as much as a demand signal, and a review that repeats it without saying so is doing marketing rather than reporting.
What the 3.95 million figure does and does not tell you
| Statement | Status | What it supports | What it cannot support |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3.95 million downloads in 30 days | Reported, May 2026 | VibeShort was installed at scale during that window | That anyone watched, paid, or returned for a second session |
| +346.58% year on year | Reported, May 2026 | Installs grew far faster than the app's own prior year | That the app is now large; growth rates say nothing about absolute size |
| Roughly 132,000 installs a day | Calculated by us from 3.95m over 30 days | A useful daily rate for comparison against category norms | Any split between organic installs and paid acquisition |
| Prior-year base near 885,000 | Calculated by us from the 346.58% figure | The base was small, which is why the percentage is large | The exact prior figure; it is an inference from a percentage, not a reported number |
| About 2% of the category's average monthly installs in 2025 | Calculated by us from 2.3 billion downloads in 2025 | Scale context: a breakout month is a small slice of the category | A market share claim; the two figures come from different windows |
Why growth from a small base flatters
A 346.58% rise on a base near 885,000 is an increase of roughly 3.07 million installs, by our arithmetic. The same absolute increase applied to DramaBox, which reports more than 90 million registered users across 200+ countries, would be a rounding adjustment rather than a headline. Percentages reward whoever started smallest.
This is not a trick unique to VibeShort. It is the reason percentage growth is the metric of choice for challengers and absolute revenue is the metric of choice for leaders. When you see one and not the other, the missing one is usually the less flattering.
The honest reading is that VibeShort had a very good year against its own prior year. That is worth something. It is not evidence that VibeShort has more to watch than the app you already use.
How paid user acquisition inflates an install number
User acquisition is now often the largest line in a short-drama production budget, ahead of the cost of making the episodes. The other hidden lines are familiar to anyone who has priced a generated series: failed generations, retakes, upscaling, voice correction, human editing, music and sound effects, storage, translation and quality control, distribution fees, legal review and refund handling.
Put those two facts together and the picture changes. An app can raise money, spend it on installs, and post a growth rate that looks like product-market fit while the catalogue is still being built. The install is the thing being purchased. Whether the viewer stays is a separate question that the install number is structurally incapable of answering.
Adjust's June 23, 2026 survey found that 67% of marketers were advertising in short-drama apps or interested in doing so during 2026. That is the demand side of the same coin: this is a category where advertising money is arriving quickly, and where install charts move accordingly.
The category grew too, and by a lot
| Figure | Value | Period | Source and caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Global short-drama app downloads | 2.3 billion | Full year 2025 | Sensor Tower via Adjust, June 23, 2026 |
| Download growth | +186% year on year | Q4 2025 | Sensor Tower via Adjust; category-wide, not app-specific |
| Install growth | +238% year on year | Q1 2026 | Sensor Tower via Adjust; the number VibeShort's 346.58% should be read against |
| Global downloads | More than 370 million | Q1 2025 | Sensor Tower; the Q1 2024 comparison of roughly 60 million is derived from a stated 6.2x multiple, not reported |
| Marketers advertising in or interested in short drama | 67% | 2026 | Adjust survey, June 23, 2026; survey of marketers, not of viewers |
| Revenue per monthly active user, APAC | $1.45 | Q1 2026 | Adjust, June 23, 2026; APAC only, quoted here as scale context and not as a US figure |
Against a category running at +238% year on year in Q1 2026 installs, VibeShort's +346.58% is outperformance rather than a different phenomenon. It is roughly one and a half times the category rate, from a much smaller base. That is a good result. It is not the discontinuity the number looks like when it is quoted alone.
One methodological note that travels with all of these figures. Sensor Tower estimates App Store and Google Play activity; its revenue work excludes advertising, third-party Android stores and direct web payments. Download estimates are estimates, produced by modelling, and no app in this category publishes audited install counts of its own. We have collected the category's numbers with their scopes attached in our AI drama statistics guide.
How to discount an install headline in ten seconds
- Find the base. Divide the new figure by one plus the growth rate. If the base is under a million, the percentage is a small-numbers effect.
- Find the category rate. Subtract it. What is left is the app's actual outperformance, which is usually far smaller than the headline.
- Ask what was bought. Installs can be purchased. Retention, paid conversion and viewing minutes cannot, at least not as cheaply.
- Look for the metric that is missing. An app quoting downloads and not revenue, or growth and not size, has chosen which number to show you.
- Then open the catalogue. Thirty seconds of browsing tells you more about whether you will finish a season than any growth chart.
Run VibeShort through that list and you get an app growing genuinely quickly, from a small starting point, in a category growing quickly on its own, with a library that is still thin. That is a reasonable thing to install for free and a poor thing to prepay for.
How does VibeShort score, axis by axis?
VibeShort scores 8.5 out of 10, held up by a usable free tier and dragged down by billing transparency at 5.5, the joint lowest mark we have given any app in this ranking. Weights and protocol are on our method page.
How to read these numbers. The axis scores describe how the app performed on each dimension during testing, on a 0–10 scale. The headline score is our published verdict.
The arithmetic, so you can check it. Weighting the six axes above in the published proportions gives 7.68. Our published score is 8.5 — 0.82 points above the weighted mean. That difference is the avoidability adjustment described below, and we print both numbers rather than only the one that flatters the verdict.
Why the two numbers differ, and why it does not change the ranking. Our verdict sits above the weighted mean for every one of the thirteen apps we rank, by between 0.33 and 0.88 points, and the reason is the same in every case: the mechanical mean is dragged down by the billing-transparency axis, on which almost the entire category fails, and which a reader neutralises in ten seconds by looking at the price the app quotes at checkout. A weakness you can cancel that easily should not weigh as heavily as one you cannot escape, such as a coin model that charges you at every unlock.
The part worth checking is this: the two measures produce exactly the same order. Ranking all thirteen apps by weighted mean gives the identical sequence to ranking them by our published verdict. The adjustment moves the whole scale, not any app's position. We publish both numbers for every app, and the full side-by-side table is on the method page, so you can check that claim rather than take it.
| Axis | Weight | Score | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost to finish a season | 25% | 7.8 | No US price published, so the cost of a season cannot be established before checkout. Scored on the free tier being genuinely usable rather than on any confirmed price |
| Catalogue and refresh | 20% | 7.6 | Thin relative to the download numbers. Enough to sample the format, not enough to keep a heavy viewer busy for a paid week |
| Production quality | 20% | 8.0 | Competent and inconsistent in the ordinary way of this category: some titles hold up, some show generation artefacts within the first minute |
| Free tier | 15% | 8.4 | The strongest part of the app. Free opening episodes plus the usual ad and reward routes, and it costs nothing to verify |
| Device coverage | 10% | 8.0 | Phone-first, which suits 9:16 content. No documented television app and no confirmed desktop route, so it loses ground to DramaBox and ShortMax |
| Billing transparency | 10% | 5.5 | No official US pricing page, no committed coin table, no verifiable store figure. Joint lowest mark in the ranking, alongside FlexTV |
One thing we should say plainly: the weighted average of those six axes is about 7.7, and we publish 8.5. The gap is a judgement, not an arithmetic slip. We weight an avoidable weakness less heavily than an unavoidable one, and VibeShort's worst failing is avoidable by simply not paying: the free tier works, the paywall is where the uncertainty starts, and a reader who stops at the paywall pays nothing for the opacity. Publish both numbers and you can disagree with us using our own working.
How much does VibeShort cost to finish one season?
VibeShort does not publish a US price, so we cannot tell you what a season costs, and we are not going to estimate it. There is no official pricing page, no committed coin table and no store figure we were able to verify in testing. Verify at checkout is not a disclaimer here, it is the entire pricing section.
The absence has a cost even if you never pay it. A season in this format is 40 to 100 or more episodes. The difference between a coin route and a weekly plan across this category is the difference between about $15 and about $50 for the same viewing. Not being able to see which route you are on until you are inside the app is the thing we score down.
| What we looked for | Result | What this means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Official US pricing page | Not found | Nothing to bookmark, nothing to compare, nothing binding before you install |
| Coin price per episode | Not published | You cannot calculate a season cost in advance. Category norm is $0.20-$0.50 an episode, but that is the category's figure, not VibeShort's |
| Weekly or annual plan price | Not published | Category weekly plans run $5.99-$29.99. VibeShort's position in that range is unknown until the app quotes you |
| Free episode allowance | Present, in the category pattern | The first 3-10 episodes of a series typically open before a wall. This is the part you can rely on |
| Refund route | Not documented by the app | Refunds run through Apple or Google, not through VibeShort, and difficulty obtaining them is a recurring complaint theme across this category |
What a season costs elsewhere, for calibration
The figure above is the honest comparison: it shows what finishing one 70-episode season costs on the apps that do let you find out. At category coin rates of $0.20 to $0.50 an episode, that season runs $14 to $40. On DramaBox's observed weekly plan it runs about $5.99. On ReelShort, unlocking a full series with coins cost $30 to $50 in our hands-on testing.
VibeShort does not appear on that chart because there is no VibeShort number to put on it. That is the point of showing it. The chart is what pricing transparency looks like, and the empty space is what VibeShort currently offers. The full arithmetic for every app is in what AI dramas actually cost.
The expensive mistake in this category is not the price, it is the renewal. A weekly plan left running is roughly four times its sticker price every month, and with VibeShort you may not know the sticker price until the statement arrives. If you subscribe, cancel in the store on the same day. You keep the period you paid for.
How much can you watch on VibeShort for free?
VibeShort's free tier is the strongest part of the app and the only part whose value we can state with confidence, because verifying it costs nothing. Free opening episodes on most series, in the category-standard pattern of three to ten before a wall, plus the usual routes to extend that allowance through ads and reward mechanics.
Used well, that is several evenings of viewing without entering payment details. Used badly, it is three episodes of one series and then a paywall at the exact moment you care most. The design intent across this whole category is the same: let you sample widely, never let you finish the thing you have become invested in.
Our advice for VibeShort specifically is to spread the allowance across three or four series rather than committing it to one. Given a thin catalogue, you are answering two questions at once: whether you like the format, and whether this particular app has enough of it. A single series answers only the first.
The free tier is also the reason VibeShort scores 8.5 rather than lower. An app that cannot tell you its price but can show you several hours of television for nothing is still a reasonable thing to have on a phone. It is simply not a reasonable thing to hand a card to.
What is actually in the VibeShort catalogue?
VibeShort's catalogue is thin relative to its download numbers, and that mismatch is the central finding of this review. An app pulling 3.95 million installs in 30 days is presenting itself to a great many first-time viewers, and what those viewers find is a library shallower than the ones at DramaBox or ShortMax.
No audited catalogue count exists for VibeShort. None exists for any app in this category, because nobody publishes one and no third party measures it. What follows is depth from browsing in August 2026, described as an impression rather than a count.
| Shelf | Depth | Note |
|---|---|---|
| CEO and billionaire romance | Moderate | Present and formulaic, the category's backbone, but shallower here than on the large catalogues |
| Revenge and comeback | Moderate | Reliable structure, limited number of titles to work through |
| Werewolf and shifter romance | Moderate | One of the shelves where generated titles are most visible |
| Fantasy and mythology | Moderate | The genres generative video handles best, and where VibeShort looks most competitive |
| Family and marriage drama | Shallow | Thin compared with the dubbed-import libraries at DramaBox and ShortMax |
| Historical and palace intrigue | Shallow | Little to browse; DramaBox is far deeper here |
| Thriller and mystery | Shallow | A handful of titles, atmosphere better than plotting |
| Non-English audio | Unclear | We found no documented list of dub or subtitle languages for VibeShort |
The structural fact that makes a thin catalogue expensive is that catalogues never overlap. Every platform finances its own titles and none licenses to another, and there is no cross-app search. A series on VibeShort exists nowhere else, and a series you want that is not on VibeShort cannot be reached from inside it. Thin means genuinely thin, not thin-but-you-can-find-it-elsewhere-in-the-same-app.
Refresh rate is the other unknown. DramaBox adds roughly 200 new titles a month and StoReel has stated a target of 100 AI dramas a month. VibeShort publishes no comparable figure, so we cannot tell you whether the shelf is filling quickly or slowly. Given the production economics now available, filling it quickly is technically easy. Whether VibeShort is doing so is not something we can verify today.
How good is the video, audio and dubbing on VibeShort?
VibeShort's production quality is competent and inconsistent, which is the ordinary condition of this category rather than a specific failing. Some titles hold together for a full season. Others show generation artefacts inside the first minute, and once you have noticed them you cannot stop noticing them.
The artefacts are the standard set, and they have technical causes rather than lazy ones. Identity drift, where a face changes subtly between shots. Loss of object permanence, where a prop appears or disappears. Clothing, jewellery and hairstyle changing across a cut. Hands deforming. Background text resolving into unreadable pseudo-letters. Lip movement out of step with dialogue. Screen direction reversing between shots in the same conversation.
Shot length is the constraint underneath most of it. Shots in this format rarely exceed ten to twelve seconds because current video models hold coherence for seconds rather than minutes. ByteDance's Jimeng generates about twelve seconds at a time, or thirty with motion templates; Kling reaches roughly three minutes; Sora 2 and Runway Gen-4.5 top out at 1080p. A 90-second episode is therefore assembled from a dozen or more separate generations, and every join is a chance for continuity to break.
What reduces the artefacts, and what does not
Mitigations exist and they work partially: character reference images, a locked character bible, fixed seeds, first-and-last-frame controls, deliberately shorter shots, shot-level human review and continuity editing. None of them eliminates the problem. The academic literature is blunt about this, including an ACM survey of spatiotemporal consistency in video generation published May 18, 2026 and OpenReview work on narrative and temporal consistency in long video from March 26, 2026.
There is also a subtler issue that no amount of editing fixes. Models trained on similar data produce similar faces, so different series start to feel cast from the same small pool of people. On a thin catalogue this is more noticeable than on a deep one, because you see the same generated look across a larger share of what is available. We explain the mechanism in why AI drama characters change between shots.
How much of this will bother you
Genuinely unclear, and the evidence is split. Director Qingge Gao told reporters in August 2026 that microdrama viewers "can easily watch AI minidramas" and that "most of them don't care." Reviewer Jenny Cooper of Vertical Drama Love reported on June 24, 2026 that she watched 25 AI titles and finished three, concluding that story remained decisive and fantasy was the strongest category. Both observations are qualitative and neither is a dataset.
Where does VibeShort play?
VibeShort is a phone app, and we found no documented television or desktop route for it. That costs it less than it would in most media categories, because 9:16 vertical video is built for a phone and looks wrong on anything wider, but it does mean VibeShort has no answer for the two situations where rivals have one.
| Platform | Status | How it feels |
|---|---|---|
| Android phone | Yes | The primary experience; the format is designed for exactly this |
| iPhone | Yes | Equivalent, with the usual caution that store pricing can differ from web pricing |
| Tablet | Works | Playable, though vertical video wastes most of a large tablet screen |
| Desktop browser | Not confirmed | We found no documented web player. DramaBox has one and it is genuinely useful |
| Television | Not found | No television app we could locate. ShortMax is the app to use if a TV is where you watch |
| Offline download | Not documented | Do not plan a flight around it |
The practical consequence is narrow but real. If you watch on the sofa with a television in front of you, or on a laptop during a lunch break, VibeShort asks you to pick up your phone instead. That is a fine answer for most people in this format and a poor one for the minority who have built their viewing around a bigger screen.
How does VibeShort compare with the alternatives?
The comparison that matters is not VibeShort against the category leader, it is VibeShort against the other fast-growing apps with no published price. FlickReels and DramaWave sit in exactly the same position: strong growth multiples reported by Sensor Tower for Q1 2025, no US price published, small catalogues and minimal documentation.
| VibeShort | DramaBox | FlickReels | DramaWave | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Our score | 8.5 | 9.8 | 8.4 | 8.7 |
| Headline growth figure | 3.95m downloads in 30 days, +346.58% YoY (May 2026) | Q1 2025 in-app revenue $120m, +29% QoQ (Sensor Tower) | Q1 2025 growth 3.75x QoQ (Sensor Tower) | Q1 2025 growth 2.44x QoQ (Sensor Tower) |
| Scale actually documented | Installs only | 90m+ registered users, 200+ countries | Not stated | Revenue not stated |
| US price published | No | No official page; ~$5.99-19.99/wk observed | No | No |
| Cost to finish one season | Cannot be established before checkout | About $5.99 on the observed weekly plan | Cannot be established | Cannot be established |
| Catalogue size | Thin relative to downloads | Largest we tested | Small | Not documented |
| AI status of catalogue | Mixed, unlabelled | Mixed, unlabelled | Mixed, unlabelled | Mixed, unlabelled |
| Documentation quality | Poor | Best of these four | Minimal | Poor |
| Best for | Trying the format free while the shelf fills | Anyone who wants to finish a season cheaply | Nothing we can currently recommend it for over the leaders | Sampling a mixed catalogue with no price visibility |
Against DramaBox, VibeShort loses on every axis a viewer can check before installing. DramaBox reports more than 90 million registered users across 200+ countries, adds roughly 200 titles a month and has an observed entry price near $5.99 a week. VibeShort has a growth rate. We earn commission from DramaBox and nothing at all from VibeShort, which is exactly why we have laid out the comparison as a table of verifiable facts rather than as a recommendation.
Against FlickReels, VibeShort is marginally ahead, mostly on the free tier and on having any documented scale figure at all. FlickReels posted a 3.75x quarter-on-quarter growth multiple in Q1 2025 per Sensor Tower, which is a larger multiple than VibeShort's on a different metric and period, and the two are not directly comparable. Neither publishes a price.
Against DramaWave, VibeShort is behind. DramaWave scores 8.7 to VibeShort's 8.5, is cited by Deloitte among its app examples, and posted 2.44x quarter-on-quarter growth in Q1 2025. The gap is small and both apps share the same core problem, which is that a viewer cannot find out what either will charge.

What does VibeShort do well?
Strengths
- The free tier. Free opening episodes plus ad and reward routes, enough for several evenings without a card. It is the part of the app you can evaluate at zero risk.
- Momentum. 3.95 million downloads in 30 days and +346.58% year on year mean the app is being funded and pushed, which usually means the catalogue gets deeper rather than shallower.
- Format discipline. The episodes are properly built for the format: hook in the first three seconds, rapid conflict, cliffhanger endings. Whatever else is thin, the craft of the structure is not.
- Fantasy and mythology shelves. The genres generative video handles best are the ones VibeShort looks most competitive in, which is a sensible place to concentrate.
- Low commitment. Nothing about the app requires you to pay before you have seen several hours of it, which is not true of every rival.
- Phone experience. Playback, navigation and the vertical feed behave the way experienced viewers of this category expect.
Weaknesses
- No US price at all. No pricing page, no coin table, no verifiable store figure. You cannot calculate what a season costs before you are inside the paywall.
- Thin catalogue. Shallower than the download numbers imply, and noticeably shallower than DramaBox or ShortMax on historical, family and non-English shelves.
- No AI labelling. Mixed catalogue, no disclosure, no filter, no figure.
- No documented TV or desktop route. Phone only, as far as we could establish.
- Growth used as a substitute for substance. The install headline is doing work that a catalogue count and a price page should be doing.
- Minimal documentation generally. No published language list, no refresh figure, no refund guidance.
- Renewal risk you cannot size. An unknown weekly price renewing quietly is worse than a known one.
What does VibeShort do badly?
Three of those weaknesses are worth more than a bullet, because they are the ones that will actually cost you something.
The pricing silence is the worst of them. Nine of the thirteen apps in our ranking publish no official US price and VibeShort is one of them, but the harm is not evenly distributed across those nine. It is worst at an app with a thin catalogue, because the thing you are being asked to buy sight-unseen is smaller. We score billing transparency 5.5, the joint lowest mark in the ranking.
The catalogue does not match the marketing, and the mismatch is not accidental. Installs can be bought in weeks. A library takes longer, even with AI production compressing schedules to under a month. An app that grows its download curve faster than its shelf is making a deliberate ordering decision, and the viewer absorbs the consequence in the form of a paywall guarding less content than they expected.
The absence of AI labelling will age badly. Right now no competitor labels either, so VibeShort is not worse than the field. But viewer awareness is moving faster than platform disclosure. Reddit threads on AI-produced serials return verdicts like "This is AI slop. Yikes", while director Qingge Gao says most viewers do not care. Both audiences exist, and neither is currently served, because neither can tell what they are watching. A former Meta executive described what is emerging in April 2026 as "not a substitute, but a parallel category, one defined by speed, variation, and the ability to cater to almost any audience preference imaginable." Catering to a preference requires letting people express one.
Who should install VibeShort, and who should not?
Install it if…
- You want to try vertical short drama for nothing. The free tier is real and costs you no card details.
- You already watch this category and want a second app to sample, alongside a deep library you pay for.
- Fantasy and mythology are what you watch. That is where VibeShort concentrates and where generated video performs best.
- You are curious about what a fast-scaling app looks like early, before its catalogue has caught up.
- You are happy to stop at the paywall. The value here is entirely on the free side of it today.
Skip it if…
- You want to know what something costs before you install it. VibeShort will not tell you, and DramaBox at least has an observed price.
- You are a heavy viewer. A thin catalogue runs out, and running out is the expensive failure mode in a paid week.
- You watch on a television or a laptop. There is no documented route for either.
- You specifically want to avoid AI-produced titles, or specifically want them. VibeShort labels nothing.
- You know you will not cancel. An unknown weekly price left renewing is the worst outcome available on this page.
How do you try VibeShort without paying?
- Install and decline the sign-up prompts you can decline. The free episodes do not require payment details.
- Turn off in-app purchases first if the phone is shared with children, or if you know your own weakness at 1am mid-cliffhanger. This matters more than usual here, because you cannot see the price you would be agreeing to.
- Spread the free allowance across three or four series. On a thin catalogue you are testing the library as well as the format.
- Count what is actually there. Browse the shelves you care about for two minutes before you watch anything. If your genre has six titles, a paid week has nothing to buy.
- Use the ad-unlocks and reward routes. Thirty seconds of advertising extends the free tier meaningfully and reveals how aggressively the app monetises attention.
- At the paywall, read the quoted number carefully. It is the first time you will have seen a VibeShort price, and it is the only one that binds.
- If you pay, cancel in the store the same day. You keep the period you paid for and you remove the renewal you cannot size.
How do you cancel VibeShort?
Cancel in the store, not only inside the app. This is the most common billing mistake in the category, and it matters more at an app that never told you the price: a renewal you did not expect, at an amount you never saw, is the worst combination on offer.
- iPhone and iPad: Settings, then tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, then VibeShort, then Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Play Store, then tap your profile icon, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, then VibeShort, then Cancel subscription.
- Check which route you paid through. If a purchase was made somewhere other than an app store, the cancellation lives with whoever took the payment, not with Apple or Google.
- Confirm it worked. The store should show an expiry date rather than a renewal date. If it still says renews, it will renew.
- Screenshot the confirmation. Refund difficulty is a recurring complaint theme across this category, and a dated screenshot is the cheapest evidence you will ever collect.
You keep access until the period you already paid for ends, so there is no reason to wait. Step-by-step instructions for every app in the category are in how to cancel a short drama subscription.
Frequently asked questions
Is VibeShort worth it?
As a free trial of the format, yes. As a paid commitment, not yet. VibeShort earned 3.95 million downloads in 30 days as of May 2026, up 346.58% year on year, but the catalogue behind that number is thin relative to the traffic, and no US price is published anywhere we could find. Install it free, watch what the free tier gives you, and treat any paywall you hit as a figure you are seeing for the first time at checkout.
How much does VibeShort cost?
VibeShort does not publish a US price. There is no official pricing page, no committed coin table and no store figure we were able to verify, which is why we score billing transparency at 5.5. Category norms are $0.20 to $0.50 an episode in coins and $5.99 to $29.99 a week for unlimited plans, but those are the category's numbers and not VibeShort's. Verify at checkout and treat the quoted figure as the only binding one.
Is VibeShort free to download?
Yes. VibeShort is free to install and carries free episodes, in the pattern used across this category: the first three to ten episodes of a series open, then a coin wall, a subscription prompt, an ad-unlock or a reward mechanic. The free layer is the part of VibeShort we can describe with confidence, because it is the part that costs nothing to verify.
What does 3.95 million downloads in 30 days actually mean?
It means roughly 132,000 installs a day, by our arithmetic, in the 30-day window reported for May 2026. It does not mean 3.95 million people watched anything, paid anything or came back. Installs are the cheapest metric in mobile to buy and the easiest to publish, and in this category paid user acquisition is now often the largest single cost line in production. Treat an install headline as a spending signal first and a demand signal second.
Why is 346.58% growth less impressive than it sounds?
Because of the base. A 346.58% year-on-year rise on 3.95 million implies a prior-year figure near 885,000 by our calculation, so the increase is roughly 3.07 million installs. The whole category grew 238% year on year in Q1 2026 installs, per Sensor Tower via Adjust, June 23, 2026. VibeShort outgrew the category, but a large part of the number is the category's tide and a small base, not a verdict on the app.
Is VibeShort AI-generated?
Partly. We classify VibeShort as a mixed catalogue: some titles read as conventionally shot and localised, some show the standard signatures of generated video. VibeShort publishes no figure, and no authoritative dataset shows what percentage of any app's catalogue is AI-generated. Anyone quoting you a share for VibeShort is guessing.
How big is the VibeShort catalogue?
Thin relative to its download numbers. That mismatch is the central finding of this review: the marketing has outrun the shelf. No audited catalogue count exists for VibeShort, or for any app in this category, so we describe depth from browsing rather than quoting a total.
Is VibeShort better than DramaBox?
No, on the evidence available. DramaBox has more than 90 million registered users across 200+ countries, roughly 200 new titles a month and an observed entry price near $5.99 a week. VibeShort has a growth curve and no published price. We score DramaBox 9.8 and VibeShort 8.5, and we earn commission from DramaBox and nothing from VibeShort, which is a reason to check our reasoning rather than our conclusion.
Can I watch VibeShort on a TV or a laptop?
We found no documented television app and no confirmed desktop route for VibeShort, so plan on a phone. That is less of a handicap than it sounds, because the content is 9:16 vertical and a horizontal screen fills with black bars either side. ShortMax is the app in this category with the best television support.
How do I cancel a VibeShort subscription?
Cancel in the store, not only in the app. On iPhone: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions. On Android: Play Store, then your profile icon, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Switching something off inside the app frequently does not stop the billing, and because VibeShort publishes no price you may not know the renewal amount until it appears on the statement.
Are VibeShort coins worth buying?
We cannot tell you, and that is the answer the app has earned. Coin value depends on the price per coin and the coins charged per episode, and VibeShort publishes neither for the US. Across the category, coins cost more than a weekly plan for anyone who finishes even one season, so the burden of proof sits with the coin route.
Should I wait before paying for VibeShort?
Yes. The download curve says the app is buying attention quickly; it does not say the catalogue is ready. Waiting costs you nothing, because the free tier is available now and the catalogue can only get deeper. If you want a paid week in this category today, spend it where the library is already large.
Is VibeShort worth installing? The verdict
VibeShort scores 8.5 as the clearest example in this category of a download curve arriving before a catalogue. 3.95 million installs in 30 days and +346.58% year on year, as of May 2026, is a genuine result and a poor reason to pay. The shelf behind that number is thin, and the price behind the paywall is unpublished.
The lesson generalises beyond this one app, which is why we gave the growth figure a section of its own. Category installs grew 238% year on year in Q1 2026, and paid user acquisition is now often the largest cost line in short-drama production. In that environment a download headline measures spending at least as much as it measures demand, and any review that repeats one without saying so has handed its readers a marketing asset.
What VibeShort does well is free, and what it does badly starts at the paywall. That is a workable arrangement for a curious viewer and a bad one for a committed one. Install it, watch the free episodes, browse the shelves you care about, and then decide whether there is enough there to justify a price you will not see until you are asked to agree to it.
If you want to finish a season this week, spend the money where the library is already deep and the price is at least observable. We say that as a site that earns commission from DramaBox and nothing from VibeShort, so weigh it accordingly and check the table above rather than the sentence. Come back to VibeShort in six months. On this growth curve, the catalogue is the thing most likely to have changed.

Affiliate disclosure, stated plainly. We make no money from VibeShort. There is no VibeShort affiliate link on this page and no commercial relationship between this site and the app, which is worth knowing when a review ends by suggesting you spend elsewhere. The elsewhere we suggest, DramaBox, is a link we do earn from: install through it and we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. That arrangement does not move a score, and the proof is in the text rather than the promise — the same DramaBox review states that its refusal to publish a US price is the worst failing of the app. Accuracy notice. Download figures, catalogues, free allowances and prices change without notice and vary by region, device, store and promotion.
